Jane House earned her Ph.D. in Theatre at the Graduate Center, CUNY, and has taught part-time at Lehman College, NYU, and Vassar.


As a professional actress, and a member of AEA, AFTRA, and SAG, she appeared in Lenny on Broadway, in the national tours of Bedroom Farce and An Inspector Calls, in various regional theatre productions, in film, and on TV where she acted the role of the English immigrant, Elizabeth Stewart, for three years on As the World Turns.


Her directing credits include the Threshold Theatre Company, Love Creek, and a student production at CUNY’s Lehman College. She has extensive translation experience: full-length plays by Santanelli--Queen Mother and Emergency Exit (see book cover right), Rosso Di San Secondo, Tozzi (with Mimi D’Aponte), Natalia Ginzburg; and short plays by Pirandello, Marinetti, and Petrolini, many of which may be found in 20th Century Italian Drama (Columbia University Press, 1995), which she co-edited with Antonio Attisani.


She is currently associate director of publications at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
